Last weekend, so another difficult weekend for our first team as they travelled to Greenfield. The host posted 263 With the highlight of the bowling attack being from @rich_slatem with 5-57 from his 15 overs. Heywood weren’t really in the race when it come to chasing down the target score, As they were bowled out for just 149 with @crossy7 top scoring with 44 and @seanburrill1993 showing some powerful hitting late on with a 38. Our first 11 are in desperate need of some positive results. Are they are floating just above the relegation zone and need to turn things around quickly if they want to stay in the league.
Our second 11 hosted Addlington. Heywood won the toss and elected to bowl and managed to restrict the visitors to just 142 from their 45 overs with the wickets being shared amongst the bowlers. In reply Heywood chase down the total in just 32 overs, with the in form @olivia.thomas44 scoring 55. Helping the second team to yet another victory.
Last weekend saw a washout for both Saturday fixtures. Our first 11 shared points with Edenfield at home whilst our second team shared points with Littleborough Lakeside away.
Fortunately, due to rearranged fixtures Sunday give our teams the opportunity to get some points on the board.
Sunday
1st XI Vs Friarmere:
Saw a welcome return to the team for @sircalebgrant . Friarmere won the toss and elected to field. Heywood didn’t get off to a great start but 31 from @marty33walters and a quick fire 37 from @sircalebgrant saw our boys post 172.
Friarmere then had the task of chasing down the total that had been set, but an incredible performance from our two opening bowlers with @rich_slatem getting 3-40 and @sircalebgrant with 5-18 saw us bowl Friarmere out for just 79 helping us claim 5 points.
2nd XI Vs Deane & Derby:
Deane & Derby won the toss and elected to bat, but we’re restricted to just 88 due to some excellent work by @wtaylor.02 whole claimed 3-24 and the boy who is in red hot form at the moment @orawlinson08 taking 4-25 which takes his season tally up to 36 already!
@joeyo1988 made light work of the chase who ended up on an incredible yet frustrating 49* due to a miscalculation by either himself, his team or the scorers😂, top work big Toe!
Top work teams, same again this weekend!
